Blender uses Dual Quaternions
Image The popular open-source Blender3D authoring tool has adopted Dual Quaternions in its recent release 2.44.  See the new features page for more information and also for a nice example showing how the DQ approach can remove the "collapsing volume" issues you get with more traditional linear blend skinning.  The Blender team report that the method is quite a bit slower, but has been included for the improvements in quality it provides.  It's cool to see GV2 research results in use in great applications like this.  We've heard also that the DQ approach has been adopted by a number of game developers, and we hope to publish a note soon on incorporating scaling effects into the method which will address one of the main questions that people raise about it.
